The Supreme Court rejected the objections of the Registrar’s Office in the Chamber Appeal. Justice Yahya Afridi heard the Chamber Appeal. Ordered to file the case against repatriation of Afghan citizens in open court. Farhatullah Babar and others had filed a petition to stop illegal Afghan citizens from returning home.
Supreme Court Decision Related to Afghan Citizen :
The registrar’s office returned the application with objections. A chamber appeal was filed against the objections of the Registrar’s Office. It should be noted that on November 8, the government decided to extend the registration card period of Afghan refugees 6 months.
The Caretaker Government has decided to extend the registration card period for registered Afghan refugees by 6 months, in this regard, the Caretaker Federal Cabinet has approved the circulation summary, the extension of POR will apply to registered Afghan refugees and their family members.
POR Extension For afghan refugees:
It has been reported that Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior had recommended extension of POR period, Directorate of Military Operations suggested extension of POR period till December 31, 2023.
Extension of POR is applicable from July 1, 2023 to 31 It will be for December 2023 because the registration card for registered Afghan refugees expired on June 30, 2023. At that time, the number of registered Afghan refugees in Pakistan is said to be more than 1.3 million.
